Iconic Ontario racing event receives funding from province to create world-class experience
MARKHAM, Ontario (August 6, 2026) – Green Savoree Toronto ULC is proud to announce that the Government of Ontario is reinforcing its commitment to major sporting events that drive tourism, economic growth, and community engagement across the province by investing $1.5 million to support the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham happening August 14-16, 2026.
The 2026 Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham is expected to attract more than 160,000 spectators over the three-day festival weekend and generate tens of millions of dollars in economic activity throughout Ontario’s tourism, hospitality, and event sectors. As the largest sports and cultural celebration in York Region’s history, the race weekend is projected to significantly boost local businesses and regional sport tourism.

First contested in 1986, the historic open-wheel racing tradition enters a brand-new chapter in 2026 as it moves to a dynamic, 3.52-kilometre temporary street circuit in Downtown Markham. The event continues its community legacy, including the popular Your Ontario Honda Dealers Present Free Fan Friday, which has raised over $1.1 million for Make-A-Wish® Canada since 2010.

Ontario’s support for the championship includes strategic funding through the Ministry of Sport, ensuring the province remains a top-tier destination for sports and entertainment.
